In literacy this week, we will start with our word lists. Students can practice the words at home. We will also continue with our phonics lessons and practicing sounds. Grade 1s will be working on a writing piece called Qui suis-je, where they write down their hair colour and eye colour and will try to guess who is who. Grade 2s will be starting a longer theme on their daily life and habits, and we will start with an introductory paragraph of a few sentences introducing themselves.
In math, grade 1s will start with some counting, and identifying the correct method of counting. We will be practicing counting from 1-10 in French, and working up to 20. If time permits, we will start on some shape patterns, otherwise, that will be the following week.
Grade 2s have also been practicing counting forwards and backwards by 1s, and skip counting. We will continue with those skills with some larger numbers, practicing up to 100, and then we will work on ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc).
